Global Warming 2007 PROSPECTUS
This is an all-media, national juried exhibition
September 1 to September 29, 2007;
reception: Saturday, September 1, 6:30 - 10 p.m.
Jurors: Laura Hines-Jurgens, MFA; Linda Southwell,
MFA; Rob Mintz, MFA
Hines-Jurgens, an environmental painter, whose primary subject is Global Warming/habitat stress. She has won awards in ecology, shows and teaches in Los Angeles.
Southwell, a sculptor, whose work reconnects with nature through human and non-human imagery, recieved two NEH Summer Instutute fellowships, works and teaches in Orange County.
Mintz, a painter, whose MFA is in cinema. His imagery is
derived from poetry, and influenced by film and photography.
Theme: Global Warming
The nature of this theme is secular and grounded in Earth-related issues. The purpose of this exhibition is to encourage the Fine Arts community to consider the multiple aspects of Global Warming- specific or intuitive, political, ethical, or social. All environmental events happening on the planet are potential subjects for art comment.
