August 30th - September
30th, 2006 The exhibition will include the powerful bronze sculptures by 3-time Pulitzer Prize winner Paul Conrad, major new oil paintings by well-known ecological artist Laura Hines-Jurgens and the primary abstract compositions of Rob Mintz. Paul Conrad, the prize-winning cartoonist ( Los Angeles Times) is also a widely recognized bronze sculptor with past exhibitions at venues including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Huntington Library. His bronzes like his cartoons are message-wielding and intriguing originals. He has authored seven books on his works. Laura Hines-Jurgens' paintings show the ecological problems our world faces. Her latest work presents large-scale life episodes on canvas, as SOS signals to point out a new perspective on air problems in Southern California. She is guided by her passion to inspire thought regarding the human engineering risks we pose to the natural condition of the world around us. An activist-artist with an MFA, she is the recipient of awards in ecology and excellence on her themes. She is featured in the book, Palos Verdes Peninsula Arts. Rob Mintz's mixed media works on paper and canvas are Bauhaus-inspired cryptograms, which generate new poetic texts
