Into The Light

February 1, 2020 - March 15, 2020

Receptions February 1, 6-10pm & March 7, 6-10pm

Juror: Nicholas Barlow, Curatorial Assistant, Hammer Museum.

Are you into the light? From Caravaggio to Turrell, light is essential for art. With digital effects, or old master techniques, and in every imaginable medium, artists capture and reflect light in all its forms. Since time immemorial, the radiance of light has expressed spiritual illumination, and the thirst for transcendence. Today, experimental works utilize technology to reveal the world in a new light. Enlighten the juror of Into the Light with the brilliance of your work --- traditional or avant-garde, figurative or abstract --- in all mediums, including painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, video, installation art, functional objects, fashion and craft. Into the Light seeks artworks in all media to brighten our spirits in these dark times. Without art, there is no light.
