URBAN EXPRESSION Exhibition at OCCCA
FROM BASQUIAT TO ZEZÃO, STREET ART, BORN FROM THE SPIRIT OF REBELLION AND CREATIVE RESILIENCE, SERVES AS A CONDUIT FOR MARGINALIZED VOICES
Speaking to the inherent human desire for self-expression, capturing the raw essence of diverse communities, URBAN EXPRESSION street artists become agents for change through vibrant, bold strokes and captivating imagery. Transcending traditional confines of galleries and museums while inviting viewers to question and participate in reimagining urban surroundings, the exhibition represents a movement outright ostracized for decades by a pantheon of establishment sectors. OCCCA invited artists from all backgrounds to explore the themes of urban culture, social commentary, personal narratives, and the transformative nature of public spaces. Whether through murals, mixed-media installations, photos, videos or intimate canvas works, the selected artists of this exhibition express freedom to experiment and push the limits of their creativity.
