CALL FOR ART

OPEN CALL FOR ART

An International Call for Art

ABOUT

From Basquiat to Zezão, street art, born from the spirit of rebellion and creative resilience, serves as a conduit for marginalized voices, cultural narratives, and social commentary. It speaks to the inherent human desire for self-expression, capturing the raw essence of our diverse communities. Through their bold strokes and captivating imagery, street artists become agents of change, inviting us to question, imagine, and participate in shaping our surroundings. It transcends the traditional confines of galleries and museums. For decades, this movement was outright ostracized by sectors of the establishment.

OCCCA invites artists from all backgrounds to explore the themes of urban culture, social commentary, personal narratives, and the transformative nature of public spaces. Whether through murals, mixed-media installations, photos, videos or intimate canvas works, artists have the freedom to experiment and push the limits of their creativity.
Urban Expression seeks to face off with existing art boundaries. It celebrates the resilience, creativity, and viability of street art as an aspect of our community's cultural fabric. Through this exhibition, we aim to explore the impact of street art, highlighting its ability to inspire, challenge, and bring people together. Join us as we embrace the vibrant energy of street art, recognizing its potential to transform our cityscapes and provoke meaningful dialogue.
