
Jim Ellsberry
ARTIST
Jim is a landscape painter, an art curator, and an oil painting instructor with work that spans over 40 years. He grew up in Southern California in the 1950’s and attended university in northern Utah where he earned a degree in Natural Resources. Evolving interests led to careers in aerospace, musical instrument making, and art. He studied painting at the Scottsdale Artists' School and with many contemporary painters from the Southwest to New York. Jim explores both representation and abstraction, with each reflecting his deep connection to the natural world. In addition to OCCCA, Jim is a member of the California Art Club plus a past President and current Board member of Southern California Plein Air Painters Association.

Artist Statement
Jim Ellsberry’s artwork is about change. Informed by the landscape, his paintings examine contrasting ideas of beauty and disruption, permanence and transformation – all the result of both natural processes and human impact on geography.
