Tom has dedicated his life through the art of storytelling, to creating memorable photographs and championing environmental awareness. His images, both from the air and the ground, are of the built and un-built, often abandoned or in transition landscapes. His images examine how we interact with the planet’s most valuable but increasingly threatened resources. Tom is interested in the balance between the natural world and man’s mark on the land. It is the relationship between Lamb’s photographs and abstract painting that is perhaps the most direct association for the viewer and one that he emphasizes in his visual compositions. Lamb’s introduction to the art movement known as, Abstract Expressionism, came while he was a graduate student at the Rhode Island School of Design in the late 1970s. During that time, Lamb assisted artist Aaron Siskind, who was well known for his own abstract photographic work. Lamb Studio, is a design, communications, and photography workshop focused on environmental and cultural interpretation efforts. The studio has collaborated with nonprofits aiding in efforts from Tibet to Ghana, Suriname to Los Angeles. His work is published, exhibited and collected internationally.
